This contest is definitely a unique one, but not that different from those where the requirements include blog comments as part of the entry.

Having your blog readers write a recommendation as part of a contest entry is probably very simple for them to do since they obviously enjoy your blog. As a matter of fact, it's a lot less than a lot of blogs ask for in similar contests.
