SezWho plugin deactivated
October 12th, 2008 by Andreas from Xavier Media® in Blogging, Reviews, The World According to Xavier. Topics:I've deactivated the SezWho plugin at this blog since I didn't see any contributions to the blog content from that plugin. Instead the plugin has been more of a burden since it slowed down the loading of the site and also added strange tags and loaded a lot of weird stuff whenever the blog loaded
When Entrecard partnered up with SezWho I think I read somewhere about "more blog comments" and "better quality" of the comments, but so far I haven't seen anything like that at all.
Has anyone of you had any more comments in your blog since you started using SezWho?

I threw it out after using it for a day as it caused lots of unnecessary problems for my blog. Cheers!

I have to say that I like the CommentLuv plugin much better. I tried the SezWho plugin on 3 of the Xavier Media blogs, but it didn't work to well due to poorly written code
and now finally I'm removing the crappy plugin from my last blog using it.
Too bad it didn't work for you…

hey Andreas,
Sorry to hear about your experience with SezWho.
We are working on a number of things including building a destination site that will drive more traffic to sites.
In the meantime we have a new release 2.2 out for WP that has addressed a lot of the problems you are mentioning here.
Read a review here:
http://www.howtospoter.com/web-20/plugins-web-20/portable-comments-and-reputation-sezwho
Also we are talking with EC to improve the algorithm for rewarding credits. This should provide better incentives for comment participation.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
thanks, Jitendra

yup, I love the commentluv as well and sezwho was messing with my commentluv as well as my gravatar at that time before I had it removed. Cheers!

@Jitendra: As you say in your own blog version 2.2 is still in beta and I would NEVER install a beta version of a plugin that worked crappy already in a stable release
A word or recommendation until next version you release: wait until you got a stable version because from what I've read on other blogs people aren't that happy about your plugin.
The blog post at howtospoter.com sounds like a paid review since they don't mention any thing in more technical detail about why it's working so well (other then the "save things locally"). When I removed your plugin I accomplished the same thing as howtospoter.com, i.e. decreasing load speed a lot.

I experienced no traffic improvement from SezWho.
October 13th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Andreas,
Point taken…
We had a couple of issues with the plugin. These issues were:
1. Page load speed
2. Better UI integration
We have addressed both of these issues in the 2.2 release.
Also for traffic improvements we are building a category based content browser that will drive more traffic then peer-to-peer traffic driven by user based profile views. This feature should be available shortly and as such will drive a lot more traffic for the member sites.
2.2 release should come out of beta this week. Hope you give it a shot and of course let me know what you think?
Thanks, Jitendra

I have to agree. Sezwho slowed down my blog and didn't seem to add anything. I do enjoy commentluv on other peoples' blogs but haven't taken the time/effort to add it to my own.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I had seen the sezwho advertised in my dashboard of entrecard, and had been debating on using it. I don't think I will now after reading this.

entrecard also advertises that those will sezwho plugin will get credits for comments. I havent seen even one instance where such credits were added to my entrecard score.
But i think the original idea was quite good. Most of us just dont comment enough. Reading others blogs and commenting is just as important as writing posts. We learn so much from others.

lvs,
Good point…The initial credit reward system was set up to provide credit only for highly rated comments…I am in the process of talking to Graham at EC to recalibrate the system to provide the right incentives to all comment contributors.
Keep an eye out
thanks, Jitendra

The sezwho plugin doesn't even work with my blog. I e-mailed support three times but received no response. I browsed their forums and apparently there are quite a few who experienced a similar problem while no solution was given. They seem to work on it on an individual base. The plugin worked on two maybe three posts. I am really disappointed with the sezwho plugin but I do like the commentluv plugin for wordpress…too bad there is no such thing for blogger…or is there?

I think you're a little late on this. I saw that it was slowing me down and took it off after about a week.

Apollo,
Sorry about the experience you had with SezWho.
I saw our email logs and it looks like we responded to you the same day as we got your email…Did we miss something here?
Please let me know if we can do anything here?
