Google data centre from the inside
April 3rd, 2009 by Andreas from Xavier Media® in Search Engines & Directories. Topics: GoogleHave you ever wanted to see a Google data centre from the inside Now it's possible thanks to this video from Youtube.com:
Google is using 40 foot shipping containers inside the data center, and each container can hold about 1160 servers (!!!). Google has been using these containers since late 2005 when this data center was built and they may actually use this technique in all their data centers.
In the video you'll also see how the cooling works and how they provide power to the servers.
Google will soon release more inforamtion from the Google Data Center Efficiency Summit held Wednesday in Mountain View.
