Egnyte – File sharing and cloud computing

I guess you all have heard about cloud computing and file sharing software lately, but is that just something for the big companies or can you as a small entrepreneur benefit from it. I would say that any sized company would benefit from it.
Egnyte got a service where you have your own local cloud: Egnyte Local Cloud (ELC). Giving you full access to your files even if you're offline or if for example your office Internet connection is offline. As soon as the connection is restored the files are sent to your cloud for storage making it possible to keep all your important information in a safe place away from your office so if you have for example a fire at your office you can stil get access to your files from anywhere in the world
The service where Egnyte store your files is simply called Online File Storage and gives you a complete backup of all your important data. It's especially useful if you need to share data with other users (and even more useful if the users are in different locations then you). By using for example the web desktop (which, by the way, works on both Windows and Mac) you have easy access to all your files almost like you had saved them on your local hard drive.
But what if I only work with really large files you may think? No problem Egnyte is using a cache technic for most of their services making it possible to work even with large files without any slow loading connections.
You can find out more about Egnyte at their web site.

Andreas,
Great article on Egnyte. I am an Egnyte user and think the service is great. The cloud industry is crowded but egnyte offers the best solution I've seen.
