Satellite Internet Service
October 11th, 2009 by Andreas from Xavier Media®Do you live in the country side where you don't have access to cable or other high speed Internet options? Then you should have a look at satellite Internet services as an option. You get the same speed and service as other options to connect to Internet.
One of the biggest satellite internet provider in US is HughesNet and they offer several plans where you can choose download speeds up to 1.2 Mbps and upload speeds up to 200 Kbps, which is comparable to any other type of connection. It's also much faster and the best thing is that you don't have to occupy your phone line like you do with dial-up connections.
HughesNet can be used anywhere in the contiguous US where you have a clear view of the southern sky.
How it's working
Your computer communicates with one of the satellites using a dish. Information is both sent and received the same way.
The satellite contact HughesNet Network Operation Centre (NOC) and asks for the web page you want to see (or the emails you want to read or whatever you're doing). The NOC then contacts the web server where the page is found and requests the web site for you. The page is then sent back the same way all the way to your computer.
This process is almost instantly so I would says that it took you much much longer to read this article then it would have taken you to surf to is using satellite Internet
You can read more about this type of connections at HughesNet's website.
