The manifesto caused later a movement within the software industry and functioning principles of Agile can be found in lean manufacturing and six sigma. One of the companies using agile development for their software development is Atlassian.
They do it by focusing on:
- Effective planning when developing software people want. They are no afraid of using old fashioned index cards to do the planning
- Open communication with their customers using all types of communication channels like for example wikis
- Feedback and two-way communications between developers and team leaders
- Maintaining code quality by testing and scheduled code reviews
- Testing, testing and testing to ensure code quality
At their web site Atlassian offer a wide range of agile tools to help you plan, manage feedback, test and develop your projects. One of the tools you get a 30 day free trial of is the FishEye for code analysis, which is a source code repository tool for developers where you easily get access to different versions of your source code. It also helps you monitor team performance and you get notified of useful relevant code changes.
