New bug in Internet Explorer
November 24th, 2009 by Andreas from Xavier Media®Yesterday an unknown hacker released code to exploit a bug in IE6 and IE7 which makes it possible for an attacker to take control over a victims computer.
Microsoft has confirmed that there's a security hole in both IE6 and IE7, but luckily it's not included in IE8
. Since Microsoft don't have any plans of releasing a bug fix for this vulnerability (at least not yet) it could be a good opportunity to upgrade to IE8 if you haven't done so yet.
If you still want to use IE6 and IE7 security experts recommends you to turn off javascripts until a bug fix has been released by Microsoft.
According to Net Application IE6 and IE7 got a market share of 41% world wide, while IE8 only got a market share of 18% so far.
