Will Twitter start charging for their services or not?

November 30th, 2009 by Andreas from Xavier Media®

Will Twitter start charging for their services or not? First Sitepoint published the news that they (Twitter) have plans for charing people to follow premium accounts in Japan, but then Twitter posted a blog post that that's just a misunderstanding….

We know that Twitter isn't earning any money so far (at least not any big amounts) and any business (online or not) needs to make a profit to be able to stay alive. How would they otherwise pay for servers, bandwidth, staff etc?

By start charing for premium services or by adding ads on their site they could start making a profit. We all like Twitter (or at least love to hate it ;-) ) so we want them to survive in the long run, but how can they if they don't start making a profit.

Even if they are not start charging today, I think it would be a good idea for them to start charging for premium services to enhance your experience at Twitter. I would gladly pay to use some extra cool services that would improve the way I use Twitter today.

What do you think? Will they start charing for premium services or go bankruptcy?
