Large companies and wealthy website owners will pay advertising companies and digital marketing agencies hundreds or even thousands of dollars to have them improve their website’s Search Engine rankings. If you lack that kind of money to invest, then your next best option is to learn how to conduct your own SEO audits. Here are some great tips on how to conduct an SEO audit on your website and ultimately improve its overall rankings.

Keywords

It is important that you understand that your SEO strategy will begin and end with Keywords. Once you have thoroughly conducted your keyword research and chosen the best keyword you must ensure that it is included in your website. After all, your keyword is the thing that people will use to locate your website. SEO optimized keywords should appear in the text of your website no less than 1% and no more than 3%, no less than 1 time per 100 words or 3 times per 100 words. Also include your keywords or key phrases in the website description, the title tag and the Meta tags.

Internal Links

This is one of the most powerful SEO strategies that can be used to increase SEO rankings; however it is often disregarded. Here are some tips on improving your internal links:

  • Have at least 3 internal links for each blog post or webpage
  • Don’t just keep your links on your webpage, instead try to have them on all pages
  • Take note of your anchor texts. Remember this is what people will click on that links to other pages

Sitemap

Ensure that you include a sitemap on you website. This is important because a search engine robot uses them to understand the content that is on your website. Additionally it will create an internal link that will also help your SEO ranking.

Search Engine Friendly URLS

Whenever someone searches for a website, they generally pay a great deal of attention to the domain name, and appropriately so. As best as possible try to purchase a domain name that includes your core keyword.

By using these tips you will be able to effectively SEO optimize your website and improve your search engine rankings.
